[Coco] Second Floppy

The problem I have been running into is not the drives or bit rot... but just plain old rot. Some of my disks and old audio tapes are beginning to peel. The coating on some is turning to dust. I am constantly cleaning this stuff from my drive heads. The mylar or what erver it is will eventually break down so I would archive to something more stable soon.
I did a lot of research lately after loosing a couple of DVD archives to mildew and found that most of the "experts" agreed that the best archiving medium for now is flash drives. Solid state media... that's the way to go.

The tapes are written and verified immediately....somtimes with errors

When were the tapes written?
Ten years ago or so and all tapes will soon be unreadable.
Just like floppies and Hard disks, all magnetic media gets bit rot in time.
Take two magnets and watch them snap together or separate depending on which
ends are pushed together.
Then understand that the North magnetic bits and the South magnetic bits can
move on tapes, floppies and hard disks. And they do!
That's why all tapes, floppies and hard disks need to be written to CD or
DVD NOW!
It may already be too late for much of what we have.
Tapes can be rewritten, floppies formatted and rewritten. Hard Drives, low
level formatted and rewritten.
But do it NOW or lose them.

CD and DVD also have problems, but they may last longer.
