[Coco] Radio Shack… Maybe there's hope after all?

Yup, I've seen the kits and Arduino boards. The availability of more
basic components is still suffering, though. For example, Radio Shack
has recently stopped carrying the 38kHz IR receiver module in my local
store (although they apparently still have them online and at other
stores) and has been completely out of the IRF510 MOSFETs online for
quite some time (I have a feeling they will stop carrying the product
once the individual stores run out of stock).

Then again, maybe you're right. The Arduino boards could be a good sign.

These are ATMEL AVR based micro controller boards for projects, and are really cool. Even the packaging is superb. The board comes in a nice little box with a placard of instructions, and there's even ethernet boards that plug in. In addition, the Radio Shack stores I went to were selling little electronics kits of different varieties.

Some 25 years later, I think Radio Shack has captured that same experience by selling these kits and boards. It's not CoCos as we knew them, but I believe it's the modern day equivalent.
