Will Mark,
I spent 5 days and 5 nights in your country on R&R. I have to say, I NEVER
felt more welcome than I did in your country. I'd walk into a pub and almost
immediately someone would say "the bars over here mate, have a drink". Could
never buy one myself. I learned how to spell tyres and centre and honour etc.
I learned what real "birds" were and was invited into the home for my entire
stay by friends of a taxi driver named Sean Dawson. Some of your mates fought
along side of my GI friends while I ran a computer at HQ MACV that called in
the B-52s when the NVA party needed quiting down ;-). I was never in any
danger (except snipers) which is why I say I spent time there, but I am not a
veteran.
Thank you to you Aussies for your part and hospitality. I love ya. Your
country and England are the best friends the US ever had and we have stopped
appreciating it.
