I am letting my prize-find Compaq IA-1 appliance/PC go for the
highest offer which includes the 2GB CF card that boots straight to
the Keil CoCo 3 emulator. Any other MS-DOS based CoCo emulator can
be launched instead, but I have it set up as such. You can also exit
to MS-DOS, or remove the Flash card and boot to Midori Linux which
can also be replaced by any other lite Linux .img compatible. There
are several blends of IA-1 compatible Linux builds and I just went
with Midori because it looked the best at the time. Some have
installed Windows 98 on their IA-1.
The unit is very compact and it uses a wireless keyboard. I'ved
tried lots of vintage system emulators like the other Keil emulators,
so there's lots of ways to use this as a compact multi-emulator or
whatever you want to do with it. I'll hate to see it go, but I need
the funds more than the unit at this time. The lowest offer accepted
will be $150. Currently there are none listed on ebay which is odd
because there are usually some listed. If no offer is made by
tomorrow night, I'll list it on ebay.
I only have read that some can be upgraded and some can't. This IS
the upgradeable version! You can flash the internal memory or boot
from a CF card.
Here are some pics that google has compiled. Somehow they listed my
own pic from coco3.com showing my son playing Mary and the Bees on the unit.

I encourage anyone interested to google up all they can on the IA-1
and see how neat this thing is. It would make a good recipe terminal
in the kitchen or
This is just one of many sites showing what people are doing with their IA-1.
