Better description is software describe hardware. In fact now all ASICs are designed using
some form of HDL software. In fact HDL stands for Hardware Description Language if my
memory serves me correctly. Cell libraries and blocks of code now make IC design faster
and easier than 30 yrs ago. Now days the design can be simulated in its entirety before
commital to silicon. So hopefully a signle pass of silicon and your out to market. Years ago
there was often 3 to 5 passes on the silicon to have shippable parts. That equated to two
years from concept to shippping product. Now that is down to 6 months or less.

Yes the best of both worlds.
