[Coco] [CoCo] Hello, newbie with new toy

You mentioned cleaning the cartridge slot on the CoCo, but didn't mention
whether you cleaned the contacts on the Rompacks themselves.  Oxidation
there is a common source of problems, especially if these are ancient
Rompacks that haven't been used in years.

(I assume you are also aware that Rompacks shouldn't be plugged in or out
with the power on, right?)
