The I/O pins are pretty flexible on all the FPGA boards I've seen. I
guess it would be wise to design any add on boards to use an adapter
for connecting to the board, this way additional boards could be
supported easily. I don't imagine this will be a problem.

I think the DE1 is a little too big to put inside a CoCo, but maybe
someone can figure out a way to squeeze it in there. the way the
various ports are arranged, it might be difficult to allow access to
them from within a coco shell. something to try though.
in the future I'd expect there will be much smaller boards.
