I used to actually do just that. At work, I had a regular user
account. In my .cshrc (or other login file), I had a little script
that ran a series of "at" jobs (if they weren't already there - it
printed the date to a file and then would simply exit if the date was
the same that was already in the file) to remind me when to take my
meds. The at jobs popped up an xmesg (a little utility which you may
or may not have on your system where you can pop up a window from the
command line) that said "take your meds". There is probably a more
eloquent way of doing it, but my way seemed to work nicely for me.

p.s. You don't have to be old to need meds. I was in my 30's when I
used that little script.
