I'd second that. I've done the same thing (mainly when trying to save
the 6809) - best way to do it is cut all the leads off and desolder them
one by one.
Someone out there has an alternate method when you solder the 6309 on
top of the 6809 except for the TSC pin, which you can attach to a
switch. You can then boot up with either the 6809 or 6309 active. I
haven't done this myself but I think it would be simpler than the
desolder method.

Unless you have extremely good technical skills, my advice would be not
to
attempt it yourself. I have almost 40 years of electronic bench
experience and still managed to tear a trace while getting the old CPU
out. It's not a lot of fun, trust me.
