[Coco] question regarding "F" board 26-3004A

Hi folks,
I also have a 64k equipped late model COCO1.  26-3004A, with the
version F board.

(oddly it has an extended basic 1.0 rom???)  Anyhow, on to my question.

When I plug my FD-501 into this Coco, it does not work.  I guess I
expected this to work, as opposed to taking the early controller and
using it with coco3, which will not (without +12V supplied by
something like Multipack interface).

Does anyone know why this did not work?   Thanks, any info might save
me some detective work.
