John Kent's CPU09 takes up 1449 of 2448 slices in a Spartan3E XC3S250 (59%).
John's complete SYS09 uses 1949 slices of 2448 or (80%). A slice is 2 LUTs and
some other logic. I believe four slices to a CLB. In a 208 pin PQFP the device is
nicely priced at $15.25 in signle unit price.
A Spartan 3 XC3S1000 would be more than enough for four 6809 CPUs In a 256
pin BGA, single unit cost is $48.
The Spartan 3 XC3S250 is on the low end of a rather low cost Xilinx device.
Probably like ALterra,Xilinx has its high end large devices but they carry a rather
large price tag far in excess of $1000.
