Compiling SDLMESS is currently a pain because you have to overlay three
packages (MAME 0.111, MESS 0.111, and the SDLMESS 0.110 overlay)

I have a zip archive here:
<http://www.macmess.org/downloads/sdlmess0111s.zip> that has all of the
packages merged together. But you'll have to modify the makefile
(makefile.sdl) to suit your platform. I _can't_ help with compiling on
Linux.
