Pretty cool, but I have my share of "antique" printers already (plus a
few "newer" inkjet models that I mean to tear down for parts).
One is my original CGP-220 - AFAIK, the mechanicals work OK, but the ink
is all dried up, and who knows how "clean" the ink path is. I still have
old cartridges (color and b/w), though, so I have had thoughts on a
teardown, cleanup, and rebuild, then refilling the carts (in some way).
The other printer is a TRP-100, and it works great! I have it hooked up
to my CoCo 3 and it printed just fine. My biggest issue with it is that
I don't have a manual or anything to tell me the control codes (I wish I
could find something on this printer - nothing in my Rainbow or TRS-80
Microcomputer News back issues), plus it is impossible to obtain any new
thermal ribbons (though I understand that thermal fax paper works ok in
it). I did manage to find another ribbon cartridge that won't fit it,
but I can use the ribbon at least (by transferring it to the cartridge
in it). The ribbon is the same width, it is just in a different
cartridge format.
It sure does fit nicely on top of my CM-8, though - and since it can run
on batteries (4-5 'C' cells), it is "portable", too!
