I run phpBB, it's free, and I've never had any problems like this.  In fact 
the community is very active in thwarting this sort of thing.  Plus there 
are tons of options, skins, and mods.  There might even be a way to port the 
posts that are already there to phpBB.

with a custom skin and a picture posting mod.

In the mean time, I'd contact the host and see when their last backup was 
done.  I wouldn't trust just "fixing" the board.  There may still be 
software there to get logins and passwords.  After that I'd contact Invision 
Power Board and see if they have a security fix.  At the very least, they 
need to know what happened so they can fix it for others.
