Then we just  avoid using the "hooks" and shortcuts and implement the
hardware at the  emulator level as you mentioned before.
My point is  we could decide on a hardware configuration then
write the code to emulate it  THEN build it.   The emulator is simply
a means to an end and not  the ultimate goal of the project.
