Basil:

If you are talking about Chris Spry, I too am wondering,
but I don't have an answer for you. I hope he's OK.

As for Wester Digital drives, I have to agree. I have
been salvaging some computers, and most of them that have
had hard drive trouble, had Wester Drive drives.

I myself just recently recovered from having a IBM
Deskstor (AKA Death Stor) start to go out on me. I was
lucky that I was able to move the data off in time.

As an aside to all this, for all of you who are using
Firefox and/or Thunderbird, there is a wonderful tool
called Mozbackup http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ that
allows you to back up or restore your Firefox/Thunderbird
profiles. Several caveats are, the version of FF or TB
that you restore to MUST be the same as you backed up
from, and you should always compact your email before
backing up TB.

Hopes this helps some of you out there.
