No, Robert meant first convert the S-Record file to a ROM dump.
MESS does not support S-Record files.

The CoCo's serial port is emulated in MESS, but only outputing to a file
is supported.
I'm no sure how MESS32 does it, but attaching a file to the "Printer"
port in the CoCo driver will redirect all output to that file.
