Its an ar file made by the compressor ar.  I know, thats a lot of
help.  Presumably the ar executable itself is also there.

They'll need "assembling".

That I don't know about, I wasn't aware that Boisy was even running a
cvs server there.  I've used an ftp program on a couple of occasions
from there, linux's 'gftp' TBE, which puts a nice gui on the front
end of the ftp engine so you can drag & drop if thats how you are
used to doing it.
