Aldus released the PC version of PageMaker in December 1986 with several
historical references on the Web. According to one site, PageMaker 2.0 for
the Macintosh was released in 1987 along with PageMaker 1.0 for the PC.
These versions of PageMaker were based on Windows 1.0 through 2.0. I think
what you are referring to is PageMaker 3.0 and 4.0 that came out for Windows
3.0/3.1 sometime around 1992.
