Well, yeah it's what everyone expected. It's also dead wrong from a
public policy perspective. Frankly it's an abuse of copyright which is
intended to create a healthy public domain. Did they once offer a
license?

No, they just threatened legal action after having spilled the beans
(that's the funny part, I guess) that they don't have proper
documentation. Amateur hour at IDG... if this was their strategy they
should have just said up front that they were not going to license the
material to him under any circumstances, end of story.

Michael may be sad, but I'm pissed.
