Actually I needed a break. The hc08 code generator is over 8500 lines
long and the 6809/6309 require many more lines of code to support the
additional registers. If I had used 6809 assembly recently this would
be easier since I wouldn't have to look so much stuff up.
The code depends heavily on macros so my idea of using a table of
pointers to support the 6803 in the same code would require too much
work. I have some ideas but until I get further into the generator I
won't know what approach to take. Worst case I could just build a
new version just for it. Yanking code out is easier than putting it in.
I'm not real worried about proving anything. I wanted to build a
compiler for another CPU and this was a way I could see how other
compilers were implemented.

Brought to you by the 6809, the 6803 and their cousins!
