Not if you want a working drive! They spin at the wrong rate (360rpm)

Highly recommended. Any old PC style little 12v fan works.

So far my testing indicates that they hold up pretty well, but it 
wouldn't be a bad idea.

The thing that sucks about the FD-502 disk enclosure is the fact that 
it's the only Tandy drive that uses a non-standard power connector. 
You'll have to hack it off to attach a standard 3.5 or 5.25 drive.
