I also wonder that Motorola's decision to stop making the MC6809 also influenced 
Tandy's decision. While they would have been able to make a "lifetime" buy, in a 
declining market what becomes a "lifetime" buy? 

At around 100,000 units per year and declining at the rate of 50% per year is not 
real good business sense to stay in a market. By 1994 the run rate would be 12% of 
what it was in 1990. Man that is a slippery slope for mass production, medium profit 
margin products.
