Great ideas, guys. Nick, I would say at this point that once you start
going to this trouble, the use of a PS/2 style keyboard is holding on
to the PC past a bit much, when it appears that a USB interface for the
machine is doable. All you might need is a bank of 4-8 USB ports on
the front (or back) of the "pizza box" ( plus a DB-15 for a monitor,
maybe) (plus a card-edge slot for the ROM carts, maybe?)... and run the
keyboard/mouse/external drives/etc. off USB. One USB port might
actually do it, if an external expander was plugged in for the add-ons.
It's just that if you use the PC hardware with a "CoCo" heart, the
possibilities may be wider than we've dreamed before. ( Start playing
the Star Trek theme...)
