Without a detailed schematic it's impossible to say for sure, but
essentially the process would involve removing/bypassing the digital
input circuitry and feeding the analog section of the monitor. It may be
trivial or complex depending on the circumstance.
Also note that technically, the CM-4 and other TTL monitors may not work
at all due to the analog signal from the CoCo 3 being below the
threshold voltage for a TTL circuit. Also the polarity of sync pulses
may be wrong, etc. >>
About a year ago I converted two CGA monitors to RGB analog
input compatible with the coco3. Basically the digital part of
the input circuit connected to three potentiometers labeled as "gain" for
each
of the color signals R, G and B.
All I did was cut the traces connecting the potentiometers to the rest of
the digital input circuit and connected each of them directly to the pin
corresponding to the color signal of the pot on the input socket.
Once connected adjust the pots
for the proper intensity of the display.
You can find this configuration on cheap TV''s too.
