The process is automatic.  If the owner of the bit.listserv news 
hierarchy sends out the delete group command, it will be gone in a short 
order.  I would be surprised if you could convince any other news server 
operator to ignore or interfere.

The bit.listserv hierarchy is controlled by one ISP, if they drop a sub 
group, it will be gone everywhere as soon as the peers notice.

That same ISP is the only one that can create a bit.listserv newsgroup.

The fate of that bit.listserv.coco newsgroup is totally in their hands, 
and right now it is linked to the Princeton mailing list.

I posted that information earlier as general information about Bitnet 
mailing lists and their newsgroup mirrors.

Right now, everything is on auto-pilot, with a self destruct button 
armed with the safety off, and it apparently has been that way for 
several years now, even with out the spam issue.

Newsadmin.com can not and should not make any changes to the mailing 
list gateway or newsgroup with out instructions from the now 
non-existent mailing list owner at Princeton.

Should the mailing list at Princeton be shutdown, it may be possible to 
convince newsadmin.com to leave the newsgroup up, and possibly gate it 
to a new mailing list.  That will involve requesting an exception to the 
standard practices for the bit.listserv.* newsgroups.

They may decide on their own to leave it, or they may remove it.

If another BITNET member agrees to sponsor the COCO list then it looks 
like there should be an orderly transition.

Any other transition will go through an exception process.
